Compass Kids: A Review and Giveaway!

UPDATE: Winner is #20: Piseco...Congratulations!!

I remember when I was younger, and we had trading cards to share and exchange with friends. I know that I had New Kid's on the Block trading cards and Garbage Pail kids. I know I am dating myself a bit here, but I remember it was fun to collect them. It was a great way to connect with other kids. I wouldn't call it "educational" just a great way to socialize and be apart of a "groupie."

I have found a great new product out there called, Compass KidZ, that promotes the collecting of cards. It is so much more than that, though, and it is educational....hey, it is outright fun! Compass KidZ is a way for there to be Kid-to-Kid connections around the globe. The Compass KidZ is a Medallion set that includes:
**2 gold line, limited edition, collectible Medallions. These Medallions highlight a world treasure and is based on an important landmark, world contribution, or cultural custom for that country. They are 1.5" and the size and weight of a silver dollar! The first Medallion is from the Ambassador featured on the Passport from the set. The second Medallion is a "Mystery Medallion": which is from another Ambassador. With this Medallion, kids are encouraged to explore another country besides the one included in the set. There are currently six Medallion sets from three different countries:

  • Egypt's Sphinx and Pyramids, and Pharaoh Ramses II
  • Italy's Roman Colosseum, and tradition of eating pasta
  • Mexico's Aztec Sun Calendar Stone, and Day of the Dead

There are nine Medallions in the collection (sold separately for $6.99). Three of these Medallions can only be found in sets as a Mystery coin: The Great Wall of China, India's Taj Mahal, and Egypt's Nile River.

**1 24 page photographic Passport (same size as a real passport). This introduces the Ambassadors. Inside you will find facts and information about the home country, language, culture, and what it is like to live there. The pictures are real and the information is from a kid's point of view.

**2 FactZ cards with special codes (trading card size). Kids can join the Compass KidZ PenPalZ free, and the special codes get submitted so they can display their limited edition Medallions online. With this they can begin trading and treasure hunting right away. The Compass KidZ PenPalZ zone has so much to offer from exploring and meeting Ambassadors from around the world to earning SouvenirZ points for each activity, which they can collect and send via PostcardZ to their new friends.

One of the things I really like about the Compass KidZ is that kids can learn about history of different locations in a fun and educational way. This product is geared toward the "tween" years, ages 8-12. The kids can learn about the world and collect Passports and Medallions. The Medallions are like a treasure! My son, Nathaniel, loved the coins. He thought they were real gold. The Compass KidZ website offers a way to communicate with kids from different parts of the world, earn and share SouvenirZ, trade with PenPalZ, and share experiences and express opinions with other kids from around the world. I like that different features of one country is highlighted in these sets, so kids can pick up tidbits that are very important and interesting.

Two moms, Jennifer Apy and Nancy Daniels, wanted to make a difference. They wanted to bring quality products into this world for our children and others.

Jennifer Apy started her career as Brand Manager for the children's product line, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago?" Nancy Daniels is an award-winning designer and creative director. She has a passion for travel and creating meaningful learning experiences which inspired the development of Compass KidZ.

Sometimes it is hard to know what to buy a 'tween' kid. I think Compass KidZ is a great educational and fun product to introduce to them. The Compass KidZ Medallion Set is retailed at $14.99!The company has given my readers a special code which will give you a free Medallion for each Medallion Set purchased at www.learningtreegames.com. All you have to do is type in SASSY-CKFREE in the coupon code box at checkout. No limit, no expiration. It's their way of saying thank you!

We used to get the "Carmen Sandiago" kits in the mail monthly! If I am fortunate enough to win this wonderful child's prize, it would go directly to my great-niece and great-nephew! They both could use it together and are the appropriate ages! Thanks very much.....Cindi
