Madelyn loves to play with things that make noise, and really, don't all little ones? I have really enjoyed the Haba Toys that I have. These toys are very interactive. I love that Madelyn is entertained with these toys. They rattle, crinkle, shake and roll. The Flip-Flap is a plush flower cube. The cube is held together with a magnet, and unfolds to attached triangles. I love the bright colors, pictures, designs and textures that each triangle has on it. I like to play with it with Madelyn. This toy is a great value priced at $24.99.
I really like the plush Animal Den ball from Haba, too! It creates a "peek-a-boo" effect with children. It has little animals hidden inside of the ball that kids need to pull out to see them. I like that the little animals are really soft and very colorful! Madelyn loves when I say, "PEEK!" as I pull one out. They are attached with an elastic ribbon, so when you let go, they kind of slink back inside. Madelyn hasn't figured out that she can pull them out and push them back inside, yet...but all in good time. This toy is recommended for ages 6 months to 24 months. I think older kids can have fun with it, too, though. Caleb and I toss it back and forth to each other. We have even played hot potato with it, too. The little animals have some sounds in them, too. One of them squeaks, and one crinkles. It is a great teaching ball with the colors, sounds, textures and animals. The retail price is $18.
I really enjoy the great new book/puzzle/game we have from Haba called At the Zoo with Alex! Yes, it really is an all-in-one activity for kids! Caleb is really getting into games at this stage, and it is a fun way to start introducing the concepts of game play with him! I can read this story to him, do the puzzle with him, and then play a game! I really like that it comes with such a kid-friendly dice (nice and big). This puzzle/game book helps Caleb to focus and use great strategy techniques. Also he starts using his eye-hand coordination. This book is $10, and suited for ages 2 1/2 and up!
