Books perfect for the "LOVE SEASON" (3 giveaways)

The month of February and Valentine's Day is known as the“Love Season.” I would like to take this opportunity to introduce three wonderful books that will encourage and inspire you to become a person who consistently loves others no matter what time of year it is.
In his book Love As a Way of Life, best-selling author Gary Chapman shows readers how to cultivate a new lifestyle built around the seven characteristics of authentic love. Now in a companion devotional, he provides ninety inspirational readings to help Christians consistently live out the characteristics of love in every relationship.
Each devotional entry showcases biblical truths that guide a life of love, offering fresh insight and practical guidance in how to make love a lasting habit. Over the course of three months, readers will learn to follow God’s lead as they practice the characteristics of a loving person: kindness, patience, forgiveness, courtesy, humility, generosity, and honesty. The Love As a Way of Life Devotional makes an ideal gift for the holidays or for any special occasion. Couples, parents, new graduates, and anyone celebrating a milestone in life will welcome this inspiring daily guide to richer, more satisfying relationships.
Dr. Gary Chapman is the author of twenty-six books, including the New York Times bestseller The Five Love Languages, with more than 4 million copies in print. His daily radio program, A Love Language Minute, is broadcast on more than 100 stations nationwide. Dr. Chapman, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Wheaton College, Wake-Forest University, and Southwestern Seminary, serves on a church staff in North Carolina.
I Do Again details the fascinating real-life story of a couple whose relationship seemed shattered beyond all hope until a spiritual awakening led them to reconsider their definitions of “happily ever after.” A riveting account of the power of prayer and redemption, this remarkable book offers renewed hope for even the most troubled marriages—and reveals why the rewards of restoration are well worth the wait. With their professional success and adorable twin daughters, Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs looked like the perfect couple. But their polished facade concealed a widening chasm between two people unable to connect on an intimate, soul-deep level.
After years of frustration, Cheryl’s desire for emotional fulfillment led to an affair and, finally, divorce. Yet, incredibly, seven years later, Jeff and Cheryl once again stood at the altar, promising to “love, honor, and cherish” one another. A new and vibrant love had risen out of the ashes of this family’s pain.
Cheryl and Jeff Scruggs are the founders of Hope Matters Marriage Ministries, and for the past several years they have shared their incredible story of a marriage restored with audiences across the nation. Jeff is an account manager with OshKosh B’Gosh, and Cheryl has served as director of the Frisco, Texas, office of the Center for Christian Counseling. They live in Dallas, Texas with their two college-age daughters.
Since their debut, these revolutionary guides have sold well over a million copies, been translated into fifteen languages, and sparked much fascinating water-cooler conversation around the country. Now together in the For Couples Only boxed set, these books provide the perfect resource to help you understand what you never knew about the woman or man in your life. Family Game Night Incentive~ (4 Giveaways)

Playing games is one of my favorite things to do with my family and friends! Our family has invested many hours into gaming (board games and video games). I can say some of our best memories are from the fun and laughter with playing games. Growing up, I spent many years playing games with my parents, siblings and friends. It is very good for the soul, and it is affordable, too! It is so expensive to go out of the home and find entertainment. It is a challenge to find something fun to do that won't break the pocketbook. The economy is really struggling right now, and most families don't have endless money right now. What a better way to connect with your family ~ let the stress of life escape~ by spending a night together and have a family game night!
Hasbro encourages Americans to share a weekly night of laughter, bonding and fun – and still stay on budget – with a Family Game Night! Board games can certainly be played and enjoyed at any time, but a designated family game night provides an opportunity for families to share an affordable night of staying in and creating new memories together. In fact, according to a survey conducted by Hasbro in May 2008, nearly half (48%) of Americans believe that a family game night is the most enjoyable form of family bonding. I really couldn't agree more! We have such a great time, and a hard time ending our game time. Before we know it, 5 hours have passed and our kids are passed their bedtimes.
If you are trying to save money, or can't afford to indulge on entertainment, Family Game Night is an excellent choice. A game can bring many hours of joy and entertainment. When you go out to eat or a movie, the time is limited. Investing in a board game is an economical and wise choice. “Family game night invites families everywhere to turn off the outside world for a short time and reconnect with each other,” said Matt Collins, Vice President of U.S. Marketing for Hasbro Games. “This year we are pleased to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hasbro’s Family Game Night initiative, which continues to encourage families to play games together for fun, learning and laughter.”
Hasbro offers such a wide variety of fun games that families can enjoy during their Family Game Night! Twister Hopscotch is a great combination of the classic Twister game and the well-known hopscotch. Kids can design their own courses with colorful rings and snap them together with purple connectors. Kids can make their courses down hallways, in living rooms, and even take this game outdoors. Kids can wiggle, sing, hum, or clap their way through the coarse, with a friend on the other end, going from ring to ring. Spinning the wheel, kids can find out what activity they must do to get to the next color. At a reasonable price of $19.99, kids ages 6+ can enjoy this game.
My husband and I went away for a few days just after our baby was born, and we really enjoyed sitting down and playing the new MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition game. This is a great new version of the classic Monopoly (but updated to the present) with electronic funds! That's right, you get to swipe cards to buy, sell, and transfer funds. I liked this version because the money amounts were greater (Millions vs. Hundreds) and we got to buy and sell cities from around the world instead of the streets of Atlantic City. It was fun playing with new pieces for our markers, too. We had a lot of fun with this game, and I recommend it! The A.R.V is $38.99 and it is recommended for ages 8 and up. 2 to 6 players can enjoy the game at one time.
Another game that we recently enjoyed from Hasbro is the Yatzee Free for All. Our friends cameover for a game night, and we played this game for about 4 hours. It is such a fun version of the classic Yatzee, but brings out some competition between players. You still roll the dice to make a combination (like the classic Yatzee) but you have to match a combo of something the cards like a small straight, full house or three of a kind. If you match one, you can claim it, but now it's "up for grabs" until your next turn, so anybody can steal it by matching or beating your dice roll! The cards are placed in front of your spot until everyone takes a turn. It is a suspenseful game, and a lot of fun! This game is $19.99 and 2-4 players can play. I think this game is more fun with at least 3 people.

Did you ever play Guess Who? when you were younger? I played it (for many hours) and I loved trying to trick out my opponent. Hasbro has a new version of Guess Who? called Guess Who? Extra and it's electronic! You still have the fun face-guessing game, but there is even more faces to pick from~ more than 100! This edition has an electronic timer, lights, and sounds to enhance the fun and excitement with guessing. Geared toward ages 6 and up (for 2 players) Hasbro has this game for
$24.99.

More Pictures of Cole Matthew

So many people have asked for pictures of Cole, so here are a few that I have...enjoy!~ I know we do! :)
Here is Cole at a week old. You can see he is a bit Jaundice. I love that little mouth!
I love those eyes! He is so precious!
Big yawn! He is stretching and growing everyday!
Such an intense look. I wonder what he is thinking.
Here he is at about 2 weeks old. His color is looking much better.
He doesn't look real impressed on this picture. He was a bit tired.
He most definitely looks "all boy!" No mistaking Cole for a girl. I really like this little onesie that he is wearing.
Mr. Stud! I think he is striking a pose.
This was taken this afternoon (Friday, February 6th). He is three weeks and 3 days old. He is so stinkin' cute!
Yes, he is a smile happy little guy! He was smiling in the hospital at my voice! I was able to capture his sweet smile on camera today! Don't 'cha just love him??

Show me the LOVE~~

Being a mom and having small children can really take up your mind and thoughts. It is so important to remember that your husband and you still have a relationship. I love being intimate with my husband and showing him that our relationship is valuable to me. I was so excited to review Yandy.com and get a little "treat" when my husband and I can sneak away. Yandy.com has a great selection of lingerie, jewelry, costumes, and more! I found a great lingerie set that makes me feel woman, and not "mommy." Because I just had a baby, I am going to save this special set for when my husband and I can get away together when my body heals! It is fun to have something to look forward to.
I was impressed with the selection found at Yandy.com. If you are looking for modest sets, like lounge wear...they have it. I would love to get the
Sapphire Mist Jammee Set because it looks so comfortable! Yandy.com's prices are reasonable, too, and they have a great clearance section. Yandy offers sizes of lingerie to meet all sizes and shapes. We all like to feel sexy for our husbands. Thank you Yandy and Family Review Network for this review! Go to Yandy.com to get your Valentine's Day Lingerie to share with your sweetheart!

Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair Review & Giveaway

It is fun having pets, but one thing that I absolutely hate is getting hair on my clothes when I sit on the furniture! I have used rollers that have masking tape on it, and they work OK for removing pet hair. It is so wasteful to use all those strips of masking tape, though, and it loses it's stickiness.
However, I got the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair to review and I can say this product is super! I used the Fabric Sweeper on my recliner and couch, and it picked hair up so easy! I need to use this out in the van, because our dog has left hair on our seats.
From the site:
How it works: Simply slide it side to side in short strokes. Rollers rotate back and forth to lift and trap unsightly pet hair. One Pledge Fabric Sweeper picks up as much pet hair as 145 sticky roller sheets.
Great for:
Upholstered couches and chairs—so you can sit back and relax.
Pillows and cushions—Pledge Fabric Sweeper is great for removing pet hair from throw pillows, couch cushions, and bed pillows.
Car interiors—great for cleaning pet hair off upholstered car seats so you can roll down the window, without stirring up pet hair.
Directions for use:
Slide side-to-side on upholstered furniture using moderate pressure. Use short strokes of about 8-12 inches in each direction (as indicated by the arrows on the sweeper).
Fabric Sweeper is self-cleaning! As you go in one direction, one roller picks up the pet hair from the surface. When you go in the other direction, the second roller cleans off the first and pushes the pet hair inside. If pet hair builds up on the rollers, repeat the side-to-side motion a few times on a clean area of the upholstery.
I can say that I am impressed with the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet hair and this will be a product that we will be using in our home! Thank you Family Review Network for letting me review this great product!
Would you like to win the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet hair? This contest is open to all readers living in the Continental United States. To get your first entry, tell me what pet you have that this product will help clean up after. If you are trying to win this for someone else, what pet do they have? If you do not do the first required entry, you will be disqualified. You may come back each day and enter (again) after you do the first rule, just tweet about this giveaway and leave the url in your comment OR Click here to see how you can earn even more extra credits to win!! Click here to see guidelines and the official rules. Contest will end on February 11, 2009 at 11:59 PM CST. GOOD LUCK! We want you to have your copy for Valentine's Day!

Birth Pictures of Cole Matthew

Here are some pictures of our labor and birth of baby #4: Cole Matthew. You can read all about my labor, his birth, and my recovery (just click here). I can't believe my baby is over 3 weeks old already! He is a great baby! He was smiling even in the hospital. God really has blessed us with Cole. He is a miracle, and I am so thankful that God gave me this special little boy to raise.

We really don't have many labor pictures. It was a very LONG, and challenging time. This is one of my best friends! She has been with me for the last three babies and my labor/delivery. She is really a God-send, and I am so thankful to her for all her love and support! I know I gave her some bruises with this labor....especially when the epidural was going in. I squeezed the back of her left arm so hard...Sorry!!
My little guy! I still can't believe he wasn't breathing when he came out. I still shutter at the image of him in that little bed, nurses using the breathing machine on him, and rubbing his little body to get him to breath. So scary! It was the LONGEST 17 seconds of my life! It was such an amazing sound to hear him cry. Thank you GOD!!
He was a big boy! He is just growing like crazy now, too! I get comments all the time that he looks older than he is. I am sure he will just be a bigger kiddo! I am glad he is growing well!
He has a mess of black hair! It is so cute! I really hope he keeps his black locks. It would be fun to have one with darker hair. His eyes are blue. He is a very handsome fella!
Here is a picture of his poor head. He was vacuumed out, so his head had some trauma. I still feel bad about that, but I know that it was just what we had to do. Almost 2 hours of pushing, and using the vacuum, he came out. Now, his head is really healing up, just a few scabs. He has some cephalohematoma yet (blood pooling) on his head, and that will just take time to absorb.

I will share more pictures of him soon! Some I took today!

Strawberry Shortcake: Happily Ever After (3 giveaways)

Strawberry Shortcake was one of my favorite character's as a young girl! I loved her red hair that smelled like strawberries! It is fun to have Strawberry Shortcake back for my little girl to enjoy in her childhood.
Strawberry Shortcake, along with special friends Angel Cake and Rainbow Sherbet, bring to life two “berry” favorite fairy tales in the all-new Strawberry Shortcake: Happily Ever After DVD. This special feature just hit the store shelves on February 3, 2009~ just in time for Valentine's Day! You can get your "sweet treat" for a suggested retail price of $14.98 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. As an added bonus, you will get free Valentine’s Day cards and bonus extras including coloring pages and a fun character memory game for your precious children to enjoy.
Strawberry Shortcake's "Happily Ever After movie" starts off with a rendition of “Sleeping Beauty.” Brambleberry Fairy (Angel Cake) feels neglected and casts a spell that puts Princess Strawberry Rose to sleep. The Princess’s fairy friends (Appleberry, Rainbowberry, Gingerberry, Tangerinaberry and Orangeberry) aren’t able to awaken her. It’s up to Prince Huckleberry to teach Brambleberry Fairy an important lesson in friendship and listening.
The enchantment continues in “A Princess Named Rap.” Princess Rapunzel’s (Rainbow Sherbet) teacher is disturbed by her non-royal interests – especially her fascination with ships and navigation. But when the teacher’s rowboat is swept out to sea, “Rap” shows everyone she has the right stuff to rule her kingdom.

Rudolph's Foods' Pork Rinds

I have never had Pork Rinds before, so when I was asked to try Rudolph's Foods' Pork Rinds I thought I would give them a try. When I got them in the mail, I was surprised that they sent me 4 bags! I got two bags of original flavor and two bags of Hot 'n Spicy. I am not a Hot 'n Spicy eater, but I did try the Original. I think they are light and fluffy, and taste like Fried Chicken Skin. Pretty tasty. My husband brought them to work, and the guys at work loved them, especially the Hot 'n Spicy. They said that Rudoph's Foods' makes the best Pork Rinds!
Rudolph’s has evolved over time from a store brand found only in Wal–Mart to the most exciting line up. Rudolph’s recent expansion includes two of their newer products Rudolph’s Cinnamon Churros and Rudolph’s OnYums. I would love to try those! I love Cinnamon Churros! I think the OnYums would be like fried Onion rings.
From the site:
For over 50 years, Rudolph Foods’ commitment to excellence has been passed from generation to generation, just like their love for flavorful, traditional pork rind snacks. In 1955, John Rudolph learned of an untapped market for pork rinds and the Ohio entrepreneur quicklylaunched his own company producing pork rind snacks from smoked bacon rinds. Two years later the company would face its first big challenge, the meat industry no longer smoked the rind on the bacon. Under pressure to save their fledgling business, John’s wife, Mary, put her home economics background to work and invented a revolutionary process the company still uses today. With Mary’s surefire recipe and John’s leadership, Rudolph Foods became a snack industry success story. Since then, John and his sons have continued to dramatically expand their business and the family tradition.
Today, the company has five facilities in the United States and three International ventures. With over 350 employees, Rudolph Foods has launched into new areas of the snack food industry while maintaining its presence as the nation’s leading producer of pork rinds and cracklin snacks.

I think Rudolph's Foods' makes quality snacks that are flavorful and not bad for you to eat, either! Did you know that a serving of pork rinds is higher in protein and lower in fat than a serving of peanuts? A serving of pork rinds contains 9 grams of protein, this, along with 0 grams of carbohydrates make pork rinds a smart choice for people on high protein nutritional plans. Because pork rinds have 0g carbohydrates, their glycemic response is zero, making them an alternative for some diabetics who want to enjoy a crunchy snack. You can read more about the nutrition of Pork Rinds here. You can purchase Rudolph's Foods' on their website.

Umi Shoes: Review and Giveaway!

Since Madelyn is such a shoe fan, I am always on the look out for great shoes. Not only great for looks (which is what Madelyn is mostly into right now) but for comfort and function. Umi makes adorable shoes for children, and their shoes are made to last!
From the site:
At Umi, we build real children's shoes. Not floppy leather slipper socks. And not miniature grown-up shoes. We know a lot about growing feet. Front to back. Side to side. Top to bottom. Umi shoes are designed with children's feet in mind. Around here we have some pretty high standards. We craft our shoes from the highest quality nappa and nubuck leather, with carefully constructed lasts. Our manufacturing process includes more than twenty quality control checks to ensure that every pair of shoes meets our standards. The result: Umi shoes are flexible, supportive, built to fit, and go the distance.
I think that the qualtity is superior and they really make great shoes! The leather is soft, the Velcro straps are strong and durable, and the shoes are flexible enough for little walkers. I am excited to see how these shoes last through the miles Madelyn will put on them. I think they will outlast Madelyn's use.
Umi's shoes come in several sizes for baby up to children's sizes. Sizes are in European sizes from infant 17-children size 38. The prices range from $40-$105 and the quality is what you pay for. The shoes are made with nappa and nubuck leather, which makes the shoe last. There are so many styles of shoes for baby, girls and boys with picks from summer shoes, dress shoes, or tennis shoes.
Another bonus about Umi shoes, is they use only non-toxic materials that are built to last. Their drum-dyed leathers are tested for colorfastness and wear-resistance. Umi packages their shoes in recycled materials and uses environmentally sound practices to manage waste. At Umi, making a safe, healthy, earth-friendly product is not trendy...it is who they are.

Would you like to win a pair of Umi Shoes?
Umi has offered to do a giveaway for my readers! This contest is open to all readers living in the Continental United States. To get your first entry, go to Umi's website and pick out the pair of shoes you would like to win (if you are the lucky winner). If you do not do the first required entry, you will be disqualified. “Suavenomics – living beautifully for less” Test!

With the economy struggling financially, and everyone cinching up the belt loops...I am so happy that Suave beauty products are still affordable! I am usually a "Salon only" gal, because my hair is one area that I like to pamper. With our finances being tight, we have to make some changes and cut out extra costs. I know that I don't NEED Salon hair care products, and this is an area that is a luxury not a necessity.
I was thrilled when Suave challenged me to test their products against the name-brand competitors. I knew Suave carried great products, because I was fortunate to review a few of their products once before (see here). What makes Suave great, is that it is comparable to name brand products, but it is so much less the cost. This is so helpful, especially in our economy downfall.
I was sent the Humectant Shampoo and Conditioner from Suave. The Shampoo andConditioner restores moisture to dry or damaged hair~ which leaves it soft and manageable. I can say that with using Suave's Humectant hair products, my hair is soft and manageable. I think my hair looks a little more shiny and healthy from using Suave's Humectant Shampoo and Conditioner. I liked both products, but I would say that the conditioner didn't put enough moisture into my hair. It could be that it is winter here, and my hair is more dry than usual. From being a user of Nexxus hair care products, I can say that Suave's Humectant's Shampoo and Conditioner is comparable in usage, but more affordable. Suave's Humectant costs $1.92-$2.49 (14.5 ounce) and Nexxus costs $8.79-$12.69 (13.5 ounce).
Suave sent me their Freeze Hold Non-Aerosol hairspray. The hairspray held well, and smelled good, too. My hair is very fine, and I usually need a pretty powerful hold hairspray. Suave's Freeze hold met the challenge well. I have used Sebastian's hairspray in the past, and for the cost of Sebastian's, I can buy 3-4 of Suave's Freeze Hold spray. Suave's Freeze hold is $2.17-$2.99 (8.5 ounce) and Sebastian's is $12.49 (8.5 ounce). With them being so similar with their performance, I think that it is more cost effective to go with Suave's hair spray.
I love good smelling body wash. I love feeling clean, smelling good, and not feeling soapy after a shower. Suave's Sweet Pea & Violet body wash smells so good, washes clean, and makes my skin feel soft. When I used the Bath & Body Sweet Pea body wash (which I love, too) it was a similar experience. With the cost of Bath & Body's body wash at $9.00 a bottle, and Suave's Sweet Pea & Violet's wash being $2.50 a bottle...you can notice the savings. Both products deliver a clean, soft, and great smelling person.
I use Lady's Speed stick deodorant, usually. Suave sent me their 24-hour protection invisible solid deodorant (Sweet Pea scent), and I didn't notice any difference. I was very happy with this because I think that Lady's Speed Stick is more expensive. I feel dry all day, and still smelled great at the end of the day. I didn't have any whiteness on my clothes, because the Suave's solid deodorant goes on invisible. Great product for less money!
The last product that I got to test out was the Suave's Skin Therapy Advanced Therapy lotion. My hands are very sensitive to different lotions because I have eczema. Suave's Therapy Advanced lotion left my hands feeling soft (conditioned). My hands didn't break out, either. It is clinically proven to moisturize dry skin better than Jergens Original Body lotion (which I tried, as well). Both lotions felt great, smelled great, and left my hands feeling soft. However, Jergen's costs $6.99 a bottle (21 ounce) and Suave's costs $2.95-3.39 a bottle (18 ounce).
I will say overall that Suave's products meet the challenge of being comparable to that of name brand products. I like to save money when I can, especially now with our finances being tight. So, Suave will be getting my business and I will be letting others know about their products as well! Thank you Suave, for putting me to the test, and for generously letting me try your products! I love that I can live beautifully for less thanks to Suavenomics!

Thanks!

I want to make a public "blogger" thank you to Mommy in Pink for picking me as the winner of Relaxing Baby Massage Oil from Nature's inventory! I am looking forward to using this Organic baby massage oil on Cole! I haven't yet used it, but I am sure it will be something my husband and I use to help calm him down after bath time. Thank you so much, Mommy in Pink!
I was also ecstatic to be chosen as a very lucky winnerof one of three Samsung Omnia Smart Phones from Mom Central! WOW~ what a win! I love being on the Test Panel for Mom Central and being "in the know" about great products, services, websites, and more. Thank you so much, Mom Central, for hosting this amazing giveaway~ and for picking me as the winner!
