Mega Bloks Dora Bath Time

My daughter loves playing with Dora sets, and we recently received the new Bath time set from Mega Bloks.  Maddy loves playing with the snap together blocks and changing Dora's outfit.  Changing the clothes is really easy to do, with just a snap, you can change Dora's skirt.  All the accessories to have Dora get ready for the day, or get ready for bed, makes the Dora's Bath Time buildable set really fun to play with.

I like that the set is complete for a time of play, and not too big to make a big mess with.  There are other Dora buildable sets to get to add to the collection for a bigger play set area, so we can add on to the Bath Time, if we want. 

Maddy loves to get Dora ready, and loves to pamper Dora in her bathroom.  Dora can take a bath in the tub, along with her little ducky, as well as comb and hair dry her hair.  I love that the hair dryer and the comb fits into Dora's hand~ which makes the Dora doll more fun to play with.  The Dora bathroom set is easy to set up, and there are several ways that a child can put together the bathroom area to make different scenes.  Maddy likes to have Dora look at herself in her mirror and she also likes putting the little hangers on the rack with a skirt on it.  I like that this set encourages Maddy to use her imagination, and it also fine tunes her motor skills with building and managing the smaller parts.  I recommend this play set, and I love that the price is affordable, and that my kids enjoy playing with it.

mOmma feeding products (review)

It is so fun when little ones start feeding themselves, and start moving into the "independent" stages of doing things on their own. It can be a very fun experience for the little baby...growing into a toddler, to learn and explore with the world around them. I really like when I come across great feeding products for my little ones. I look for products that are easy for my child to use, sturdy (because the floor can be a long way down from their tray) and products that are not only safe to use (materials made with) but also easy to clean up.
I got to review the mOmma feeding line, and I think the fun design is both entertaining for kids, and useful! Check out my little guy reviewing the mOmma Non-Spill Cup with straw:
Notice how the cup does NOT spill. I have tried so many sippy cups that claim the "no-spill," or "spill-proof" statement, however, I have found very few that actually hold true to that claim. Well, my child states the claim, and proves, that the mOmma Non-Spill cup with straw does not leak. I love the "roly-poly" shape of the cup, which makes my son laugh. I also like how the straw can be shut, hidden underneath the lid, to keep it from getting dirty, or for easy storage in the diaper bag.~NO Leaks! The lid slides shut completely!
I also love the that whole mOmma feeding products are BPA and phthalate-free...making them very safe to use with my kids. I am a big promoter of using safe products for my kids. I am really happy that the mOmma line is dishwasher safe, too. When products are made safe to wash in the dish washer, I am an even bigger promoter!
Since the cups for the mOmma collection are round-shaped, the mOmma wash is a cleaning brush designed to work specifically with the mOmma line cups. I love the bigger handle on this brush, and the bristles are made very well. I really like that the mOmma line has a brush to fit their cups perfectly, because it is really hard to wash inside of cups, bottles, or any other odd shaped container. The mOmma cups, both the sippy cup and the cup with a straw, are made with two handles, for easy control while drinking. I really like the bottoms of the cups, they have rubber-coated bottoms to help reduce skidding and prevent spills. The mOmma Warm Developmental Meal Set is a great set for a new baby moving into the self-feeding stages. The circular plate is designed to keep the food warm. I like the two sections on the plate, to keep food separate. Included in this set, is a fork and spoon. The fork and spoon have a bulb-shape handle on it, for the little one to be able to grasp onto it easier...better hold. The design of the handle is made to fit even the smallest of hands. This is designed this way so little ones can start to learn how to properly hold an utensil. The utensils' protective cover provides a hygienic case, so it is ready to use when you take it out of your bag.

The mOmma feeding products combine innovation and technology to transform mealtime into an opportunity to play and learn. I think that the shapes and design of the mOmma products are fun and inventive. The colors are bright, green and orange, and my little guy loves his non-spill cup! I recommend this feeding line, and give them two thumbs up!

Olivia's 2-in-1 playset and plush from Spin Master!

Madelyn loves doll houses, and is at the age when make believe toys are some of her favorite activities. I was excited to review the new Olivia 2-in-1 transforming play set from Spin Master. This is a very unique play house, and I thought it was a very creative toy. It is one that my son likes to play with, too, and doesn't consider it to be too "girlie."
Olivia's transforming 2-in-1 play set is just what the name implies, you get two adventures in one play set. With just the slide of a latch, you can open up Olivia's home.
Included in Olivia's home is a table, two chairs, two plates, ...
a bed, a desk, a couch, a mini table, lamp and more. Also, there is a sheet full of stickers that kids can accessories and add to the pieces or walls of their home to make it customized to their liking.
Madelyn has so much fun with her Olivia set. Unfortunately, she has had so much fun with it, I can't show you the adorable Olivia figurine that is included in this play set. Olivia has a dress that she wears, and it is removable. Olivia is about 2-3 inches tall, and her arms and legs are able to pose. She also has a stand that is included in this set for standing her upright in her home.

Then, if you shut Olivia's home, and turn it toward the back side, you click open the other latch. Opening it up, you will see a whole new scene...
A pirate ship is a fun adventure for Olivia to walk around on. Included in the pirate ship is a pirate hat for Olivia to wear and an eye scope to see what is out on the waters.
Raise the "O" flag high into the sky from the mast. Olivia can be up high to search what is coming, and her little parrot friend can sit next to her to keep her company.
If Olivia heads for shore, she can take a swim in the waters, or sun herself on the shore under the tree. The Pirate side is what my son likes to play with. He loves pirate-y things. :) The 2-in-1 Transforming Play set includes an Olivia figure and base, 23 accessories and one sticker sheet. The play set is available from Toys "R" Us, Target and Kmart.
I also got an Olivia Plush doll to review. This plush is adorable, and she is all dressed up like a cow. She can perform on her stage and be a new animal in her cow outfit. There are other Olivia plush dolls, and they are all dressed differently: Artist, Opera Singer, Cow and Outfits. I think the cow Olivia is really cute, and she even has bows in her hair.

The Plush Olivia is 8 inches tall and she is available at Toys "R"Us, Target and Kmart.

My daughter loves the 2-in-1 transforming play set and the plush Olivia doll. I hope that Olivia will show up somewhere in our house. I saw that there are other figures I can purchase to go with the play set, as well.

Moon Dough~ a fun activity!

We recently got a package in the mail from Team Mom to review: Moon Dough. It is a very unique product, and my kid's (plus my niece) had a great time experimenting with it! We got the Moon Dough Barnyard for review, so we got to make a few barnyard animals.

Moon Dough has a very distinctive texture. It is very soft, and moldable. It is almost like you are squishing a marshmallow in your hand, without getting sticky. I like that the Moon Dough is hypo-allergenic and wheat-free.

My kids thought the Moon Dough felt soft and fluffy, like a blanket. The Moon Dough never dries out, so for that...it is long lasting. It is a little messy, so be prepared for some time to clean up. During play, the moon dough can be somewhat contained on the included two themed play mats.
To make the animals, you have to put the moon dough in the top of the barn (in the mold hole). It is best to fill the mold, and make it full of the moon dough (your animal will look best that way). After the mold is full, turn the crank toward the Silo, two times. The Silo will catch the left over moon dough, and after two cranks, a new animal will come rolling out of the barn door. The kids had a great time seeing which animal would come out to greet them. There are four different animals: cow, horse, pig and a sheep. I thought the molds were great!
My niece had a great time playing with the Barnyard Moon Dough! She loved making the animals, and putting them in the barn.
Also included in the Moon Dough Barnyard, is a mold to make a fence and a hay bale. The fence and the hay bale stand upright after it is molded, so it is fun for the kids to play with their animals in a fence, or eating hay.
The animals can also be placed in the fenced in location in the barn. The kids had a great time putting animals in there. Here is a video of my niece using the Barnyard with the Moon Dough.

Pop on Pals

Spin Master has come out with a new toy line called Pop On Pals. I was sent the Amusement Park Play set to review from Spin Master and Team Mom. My kids were excited about this toy even before I opened the box.
The Pop On Pals Amusement Park has a roller coaster, car, detachable lower piece to the roller coaster, a girl, and three pieces to mix and match her outfits. Changing the pieces is easy, you just press down on the pal and the mix and match rings pop on.
My kids liked pushing the buttons on the roller coaster to make the sounds and the Ferris wheel go around and around. On the amusement park, there is a bowling pin knock down (with sounds), strongman striker (strongman hit), Ferris wheel, and dragon swing boat ride, along with the roller coaster.
Pop On Pals is geared toward ages 2-4 years old, and this is perfect in the age category of my kids. I have three little ones, and they all enjoy it (age 19 months, 3, and 5).
The Pop On Pals are made to switch the outfits and pieces around to make "new" people. So, with the amusement play set the little girl goes from a plain blue outfit, to holding a hammer to play one of the games. She can have her outfit put on to show her hands up in the air while she rides the car down the roller coaster, Ferris wheel or the dragon swing boat ride. Amusement Park Play set comes with three attachable pieces.
My kids really had a great time checking out the Pop On Pals, but I know I would need to get a few more people to add on to this set to prevent some quarrels. One thing I would recommend is offering another Pop On Pals play set to attach to this roller coaster so the roller coaster can keep on.

"We're going on a bug hunt" with Backyard Safari Outfitters

"We're going on a bug hunt, going on a bug hunt...we're not afraid, we're not afraid..." My kids love going outside, and looking for the creepy crawlers that roam in the grass and dirt outside. My kids love to use the Mega View Periscope to look at each other, too. One is closer to the ground looking in the bottom and the other one is looking through the top. We love the Mega View Periscope, because it is crazy how it works. The Periscope can be opened up to three new lengths (reaching 4 feet high) for looking way below the viewer, or way over the viewers head. This works great if kids want to look over a fence, high bushes, around corners or into their homes. The Periscope makes things closer or further away. It is great looking for bugs, or watching a crawling critter on a leaf/branch with the Periscope, too.

The Periscope can be used in water, too! I think that is amazing! Kids love water, and with living on the lake, having a tool for the kids to view into the lake water is way cool! The Mega View Periscope can go 16 inches into the water for underwater viewing, will work with docks, poolside, lakes or beaches. A fish eye view...but without all that water in your ears!
I also love that the Periscope is easy to hold onto for small hands.

Caleb loves the Bug Vacuum. His older brother had one of these, and it was a coveted item for a long time. Now that Caleb has his own Bug Vacuum, he is busy looking for bugs to snatch up. With the Bug Vacuum, kids can suck up the bugs live, and the bugs go into the capture container. The container has a built in magnifying glass for easy viewing, and there is screen on the container so the bug can breath. The bug vacuum comes with two nose cones for two different sizes of bugs.

Searching for just the right bugs, or creepy crawlers. I am sure this summer will be busy with my little backyard explorers.

I think Caleb got a bug in his bug vacuum. I know he was trying to get the mosquito's, but they are a bit fast.

Caleb is a great backyard explorer with his Cargo Vest and Bug vacuum. The Cargo Vest from Backyard Safari Outfitters is great, because it has so many pockets and places for explorers to store their important items. The Cargo vest has six D-rings and two shoulder epaulets that kids can clip and hang their gear onto the vest, and a big zipper pocket to put the binocs (binoculars) into. I want to get the binoculars for the kids, because I know they would use them a TON!

April Showers Bring Batman Powers!!

I knew that my son Caleb would be beyond thrilled when he found out Batman was coming to him in the mail! My son is really into super heroes right now, and Batman, a favored DC Comics Super Hero, is at the top of the list. Caleb loves dressing up, too. My kids are constantly, well almost daily, dressing up to "be something" for the day. When the UPS guy arrived at the door, Caleb said, "Hey, maybe it's my new Batman raincoat! With sheer anticipation, we opened the big blue box with the Batman logo on the front, and this is what we found inside:

The Raincoat was tied in a big, yellow ribbon, the boots were laying nice on the other side, and the umbrella was at the bottom. I thought the presentation was wonderful! Of coarse, Caleb just wanted me to take it out quickly, so he could put them on!
He was so excited that he wore the raincoat and boots all day (inside...even though it wasn't raining out).
Here is a picture of Caleb being "Batman" and posing with his "Batman" wing. The raincoat has a cape that is secured by Velcro near the back of the neck. With the cape on, kids can fit their hands in a loop, and hold out their hands with the look of bat wings. I think it is designed perfectly for kids! It is great that the cape can be worn with or without the raincoat, and the logos glow in the dark for safety and kid-appeal. We love the cape!
Raincoats are available from size 2T to 6X and retail for $50.
Caleb can't wait for it to rain out so he can go out and play in the rain with his new Batman-themed boots from Washington Shoe Company and Warner Bros.. He did wear his new boots to his Dentist appointment. He wanted to show them all his new boots, and of coarse they all thought his boots were awesome.

Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection Building Sets

I am a big time promoter of products for my kids that encourage them to use their imagination, build, play, and interact with. I was given the opportunity to review the Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection Building Sets: Police Station, and we were impressed with this set. My kids love Sesame Street and the characters, so they were thrilled to put this set together.

K'Nex has great building sets, and their products are made with great quality. I think it is great that K'Nex has these sets for the younger kids to put together, as well as sets geared toward older kids.

The Sesame Street Neighborhood Police Station set includes 44 pieces, which includes a buildable Ernie and Elmo figure. I like that the Sesame Street K'Nex set has a stop sign and traffic light. We used these items to learn about safety on the roads, and what the traffic signs/lights mean. My kids liked pretending with them. I think it would be fun to get a few more of the Sesame Street Neighborhood sets, like the Police Car building set and the 1-2-3 Brownstone Building Set. I think it would be fun to mix and match the sets and make fun creations with all the pieces. There are 4 of these building sets in all.
This K'Nex set is big enough for a few kids to play together with, and I like that there is 2 characters (Elmo and Ernie) so each of my kids can play with one.
The Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection sets are designed for ages 2-5, however I think the parts are safe enough for my 10 month old to play with them. (just my opinion). That makes this set super, too. I know that my kids can play with this around their baby brother, and he will be OK.

Healthy Eating Right!

My kids are usually pretty healthy eaters, but I highly believe that it really depends on what options you give your kids to what they will have. I have even known that with trying to lose weight. If I have the "junk food" available in my home, and I bought it, I WILL eat it. So, if we pack our kids healthy lunches for school, picnic, field trips...etc., they will eat the options before them (hopefully).
Safeway and Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes have teamed up to create Eating Right Kids. They have designed a program that parents can feel good about and that kids will love. Eating Right Kids is a full line of foods that taste great and are better for our kids nutrition. The line has been formulated to standards based on the most recent dietary recommendations and regulations from several federal and state agencies.
Being a Team Mom member, I was sent a sample selection from the Eating Right Kids. I got a thermal lunch bag (with Bugs Bunny on the front) and a selection of food items inside the bag. I think that the chewy bar was tasty, and I liked that the apple juice was 100% vitamin C and no corn syrup in it! I think it is a super idea to put fruits and vegetables in our children's lunches. One thing I usually do, is put a handful of baby carrots in a container or bag, and a banana. My kids love having a box of raisins and a container of sliced strawberries, too. It is fun to get creative with healthy options, too. One classic is to have a celery stick filled with peanut butter. Trail a line of raisins down the row of peanut butter, and you have "ants on a log." Kids get a vegetable (celery), protein with the peanut butter, and a fruit (raisins).
I think the Eating Right Kids is a super program. I thought that the site had great things to offer, suggestions, and options for purchase. Keeping our kids healthy is so important, and it really helps their growth and development.

Our kids love books, and reading is such a great activity to do with them! I love the books that Leslie Patricelli writes, because her books are colorful, few words, and comical. We just got two of her most recent books to review through Team Mom and Candlewick Press, and we love them! My kids were happily entertained with "Higher! Higher!" This story is about a little girl who is enjoying her swing. She keeps going higher and higher. The pictures show her going higher up into the sky and the world below keeps getting smaller and smaller. The words are very limited...higher, hi, high five, bye and again. The words are big, and since there isn't too many words, I think it is easy for kids to "read" this story to you. My kids giggled when she met someone on her journey higher! Higher! Higher! is sold in stores or online for $15.99.
"Baby Happy Baby Sad" is a book about emotions. I enjoy Leslie's pictures to show what each emotion looks like. The words are simple, Baby Happy, Baby Sad...plus a few words that the baby exclaims. My kids think the pictures of the baby are funny! Baby Happy Baby Sad is sold in stores or online for $6.99.
