Potty Training with style

Caleb is in his stages of potty training, FINALLY! Hip hip hooray! I was excited to get the Potty Caddy for him to help encourage him in his journey to being diaper free and toilet seat bound!
The Potty Caddy makes toilet training interesting, fun and entertaining. A box big enough for your tot to carry, with the handle on top, and filled with fun surprises! Opening the front door of the box, a child will see a roll of toilet paper, just for them! What is great about the design of the Potty Caddy is, you can refill the toilet paper when it runs out! Cleaver! There is just something about a child using their OWN T.P. Inside the front door, is a little pocket. You can find a bunch of toilet targets, for your little shooter. Plus, there is a potty chart with reward stickers, and a fun little book to guide your child in the steps to potty training. The book is sure to bring giggles, and questions. It had Caleb rolling in laughter. The best part of the Potty Caddy, in my parenting opinion, is the kid-themed/kid-sized magazines. Here are the fun titles: Vanity Fairy (Being Free the bearable dryness of being), Rolling Stroller (Rock on, Baby! Ten great songs to listen to while peeing or pooping on the potty), Tots Illustrated (Oops! Don't get embarrassed: It even happens to the Pros!) and BQ (Babies Quarterly: Dress for success: Great looks for the Newly diaperless). I will admit, the Potty Caddy does appeal to the adults more so than the potty trainer, but it is still a great help with encouraging your tot to enjoy the training journey. Caleb is thoroughly enjoying his Potty Caddy! You can find the Potty Caddy at Amazon.com for $14.95 (on sale now).

Potty Training update...

Caleb is doing super in his quest to defeat the diaper usage. I am so proud of him! He loves wearing real underwear, and not pull-ups. When we go places, like church today, we tell him he needs to wear his pull up. He does not like that, but he does understand. He has poo'd 2 times while wearing the pull-ups, so he knows that it is safe to do that. We tell him he still needs to go in the toilet when he has the pull-ups on. Also, if he wants to wear real underwear all the time, he needs to wake up from sleeping with the pull-up dry. I hope that part comes quickly for him. Nap time really isn't hard for him to keep it dry, especially if we remind him to go use the toilet before he sleeps. He is so excited about wearing big-boy underwear~ as he calls it! We will have to buy him some underwear in his size. My mother-in-law bought him underwear last summer (hoping he would spark an interest in training then), and those are 2T-3T....SO, they are a bit small. Maybe he will find some underwear in his stocking and under the tree.
He is filling up his sticker chart now, too...when he remembers. I made this chart for him earlier this summer, when he went potty once on the toilet. We made a huge deal about him going then, but he just wasn't ready yet. He is making his requests to us about what he wishes to get as his prize once he is completely trained. His latest request is for a game boy. I bought Nathaniel a game boy when he was trained (although I was a single mom then)~ so, Caleb is asking for that. Terry isn't keen on that idea.
I am fully convinced that children just need to be ready when they decide they are ready. My oldest son was the same way when he was training. I tried almost every effort out there, and still...he chose when it was time. Plus, I think they feel better when they control when they accomplish being in underwear. I am just thrilled that our expense for diapers has decreased for a month and a half before baby comes. At least we won't have 3 in diapers now. Maybe Madelyn will start training really early, and be out of diapers by summer. That would be super, too! She tells us (many times) when she needs to be changed. I am glad about that, too!

Potty Training Time

Caleb has been doing an awesome job the last few days with his journey to being diaper free! When Grandma was here the weekend of November 7-9, they were working on potty training. She had pull-ups, underwear, skittles, etc. After a weekend of trying, he did succeed to go on Sunday night when we got home. So, with celebrating, she treated him to Dairy Queen.
Well, after that weekend he hasn't really shown interest, until this weekend. Saturday, he wanted to wear the pull-ups. He did go on the potty chair, too! WOO HOO~ we really praised him for that! Today, with being home, we are really working on it. He wanted a pull-up on right away this morning. Guess what? Still dry! Yeah Caleb!! He has gone potty 4 times! Still waiting for the solid waste, and we are hoping he can do it on the chair. Keep it up young man! I am cheering you on! He just woke up from his nap with a DRY pull-up! Then, he went into the bathroom (without me asking) and tried to go. That is such a great thing! What a big boy!
I told him this morning that if he kept his pull-up dry all day, we would take him to the DQ tonight. Let's see if he can do it!

Potty Adventure DVD: A Review and a Giveaway!

Potty Training is not my strength with parenting. I don't look forward to it, and I think it is a huge job! Caleb is 3 years old, and not interested in using the toilet....at all! He would be fine to wear diapers forever (OK, maybe not forever, it just seems that way). I was so happy with the DVD I got to review: Pocket Snails Potty Adventure! The DVD has 3 little snails explaining the steps of potty training to Jake's little sister, Wendy. I think this DVD explains things very well to kids. They do a great job encouraging, too! The DVD even includes a Map of the things they talk about. The first step is to know the feeling that you have to go. Then, you tell your Mom or Dad. It goes through all the steps to the final step of washing your hands. I really like how the video uses the terms for when you were younger you wore diapers, and now that you are older you will use underwear. I like that the DVD doesn't imply that kids are still babies if they wear diapers. Some DVD's do that, and I think that can be demeaning to kids. During the DVD, the Pocket Snails spend most of their time in the bathroom and take pictures of the things they do. Caleb and Madelyn were really enjoy the movie. I am hoping that this will spark an interest in Caleb wanting to go! Thank you Pocket Snails! This DVD is for kids ages 2 and up.

Ahh Toilet Paper foam: A review

Did you ever wet toilet paper to use on your child's bottom? It is a nasty, fall apart mess. I was excited to hear about the brand new Aaah Toilet Paper foaming cleanser. It is so easy to use, just squirt some on the toilet paper and use. It will not disintegrate the paper, just moistens it! It is economical, contains no alcohol or irritation, all natural and fragrance free! It is made with aloe vera and moisturizers and it is rinse free. I really like that the Aaah Toilet paper foam dries quickly and won't leave a wet feeling like pre-moistened wipes. I believe that wasting toilet paper won't be as common with the use of Aaah! Aaah toilet paper foam is save to use in the septic systems, too.
Aaah! Toilet Paper Foam retails for $8.90 for the Home size (8 ounces/300 applications); and $5.90 for the travel size(1.6 ounces/60 applications. Right now there is a special to receive a one month's supply free (one 1.6 oz. travel size foamer perfect to fit in the diaper bag or purse) and you just pay the shipping and handling.
I think this is a great product to use with potty training, and to just keep in the bathroom for whomever may need to use it. Great product!
