We miss our friend!

Since my kid's have been so sick lately, we have missed a lot of work with babysitting. Claudia is such a little honey pie, and we miss playing with her. Caleb asks everyday if we are going to Claudia's house now. I will post some pictures of our day over at her house, so you can see what we do!
They usually always play so well together...really!
This is Miss Claudia...she is such a cutie pie!
This is Caleb's shop where I buy Ice Cream and cheeseburgers from him!
The girls are putting on (play) lipstick, combing their hair, and chatting on the phone.
We miss you Claudia, we hope to see you soon!

Our house is under attack...

I feel like we have been hit with so much sickness lately, that it makes me think that Satan is attacking us. Caleb woke up at midnight on Monday night with a croupy sounding cough. He was miserable and didn't sleep well at all (neither did I). Then, he had a high fever on Tuesday, in which I gave him regular doses of Motrin and Tylenol. It was a rough night on last night between him crying because he had a head ache, chills, and a high fever....and Madelyn waking up. I had about 4-5 hours of sleep. That isn't uninterrupted because I have a nursing baby. I don't think the medications were helping bring the fever down at all. Then, this morning, he was up at 5 and crawled into bed with me. He was moaning and miserable. He was hot, and his head was really hurting. I gave him Motrin at 7, and about 10-15 minutes later he said he was going to puke. At least he warned me! I carried him into the bathroom, and sure enough, he threw up. I think he threw up because his fever was so high, and he felt miserable. He ate a little breakfast, and hasn't thrown up the rest of the day. His appetite hasn't been good this whole week. His fever has been down some today, but he is still running a temp. Now, this afternoon, Madelyn is running a temp., has a runny nose, and had a diaper that smelt like diarrhea. I think (and hope) hers is from maybe cutting teeth...I could only hope. Nathaniel was home sick on Monday, too. He has a sore throat, ear pain and low grade temps. I think he handles sicknesses better and his immune system is stronger. He did go to school on Tuesday, but he was in the nurse's station twice. He is still under the weather today, but doing a little better.
Do you think I should be more concerned about them being sick so much this year, like maybe something more is going on? Do you think it is more than just a bad case of getting/catching everyone germs? It is just so frustrating that they are sick every couple of weeks. I really just want to not go anywhere with them...ever! But that isn't possible.

Prissy Poofs~ A review

Prissy Poofs make such darling tu-tus! I was super impressed with the quality and attention to detail! I love the Princess tu-tu that I got for Madelyn! It is a pretty pale pink, and has pretty thin ribbons that trail down from the waist. It came with an adorable crown to make the costume complete! Madelyn is going to love playing the role of a Princess in this tu-tu! Prissy Poofs make several costumes ranging from Cotton Candy Cowgirl Poof, to Prima Ballerina Poof, Boa Poof, to Knotty Poof. Prissy Poofs make really adorable and creative "Poofs" for the little princesses! Many poofs come with great accessories!

There are also Teeny Poofs, Seasonal Poofs, Prissy Poofs, Spooky Poofs, and Poof Apparel. Prissy Poofs has also put some packages together to make your set complete! The sizes are XS-L (6 months-size 7/8). There is also a Teeny size (newborn-6 months available in the Teeny Poofs).Prissy Poofs was created by two moms on a mission, Laura and Deborah! They were on a mission to "help Mother's in search of upscale dress-up that can successfully (and quite adorably we might add) be worn out of the house to... the Grocery Store, School, Church, or even Dad's office, without a scene." I would say that they have succeeded! I love the poof...and I would feel confident to wear it out of the house, too!
OK, if I was a little girl, I would! I loved dress up! The wonderful creators of the Prissy Poofs first made the Poofs for a daughter's 3 year old birthday party for all of the guests, and the rest is (as they say) is history! I love that each poof is hand-made...and very well done! I feel blessed to have one of their poofs. Madelyn may want more, so, I will know where to go! I think this company really makes adorable "poofs" and I am so happy I found them! You should check them out!

Friday walk with the kids...Scootababy helps!

I went on a walk on Friday with all the kids...Nathaniel (he didn't have school), Caleb, Madelyn and Claudia. It was a beautiful day outside! I only have a double stroller, so Caleb and Claudia

rode in the stroller. Nathaniel and I walked. I was so happy to have my new Scootababy sling! It is such a comfortable way to wear Madelyn! I really love how this sling allows me to carry Madelyn on my hip, and wear kids like they like to be. She can see everything from this angle! The Scootababy is so easy to use! I click the strap around my waist, hold Madelyn against the material on my hip, then lift the strap over her head and mine. Then, if I want the strap tighter, or want to loosen it up, it is very easy to adjust. Madelyn is only #16 1/2 pounds, so she was super light in the sling. I also put Caleb in the Scootababy, and he loves it! He is almost #30 pounds, and this is the first sling I have seen that he can be in comfortably! Scootababy can be used for babies aged 5 months and up (to 40 pounds).

Designed by Audra Meng, a mother in Sunnyvale, Calif., and her husband Jack, Scootababy isn’t just one more in the long list of slings, pouches, front packs, baby backpacks and mei tais on the market. According to Meng, “I've tried and appreciated them all! But none of these carriers did what I wanted most – to carry my baby in the most natural position (straddling the hip), in comfort, convenience, and style. I didn't want to fuss with anything that needed a lot of adjusting to put on and readjusting to get baby in or out.”During her process of creating Scootababy, Meng felt that a great baby wearing device needed something that would be comfortable and distribute a baby's weight over more than just the shoulders. She believed this would become even more important as a baby got older and heavier. After many attempts, she came up with something that is an innovative combination of comfort and simplicity. The Scootababy distributes weight evenly, has a lightly padded and shaped seat for baby, and its supportive fleece shoulder is elastic and conforms to any size wearer without impeding arm movement. Additionally, its wide, padded waist belt not only helps distribute a baby’s weight more evenly, but provides an added element of security.

The Scootababy is a product that features quality design, materials, and workmanship. The sturdy construction with reinforced seams is sewn in the U.S., made from quality materials from U.S. suppliers: Polartec® fleece, 100% cotton ring-spun denim from U.S. mills, performance EVA foam. It is currently offered in two styles: Classic and Jellybeans. Suggested retail price is $107.00.

From the weekend...and random things to get you up-to-date:

We had a great weekend. It was so fun to see family! Friday night we got up to see Terry's Mom and Grandma about 8:30 PM. We visited for awhile, and then went to bed. Saturday morning we lounged around. That was so nice, because I rarely do that much anymore. We had a late breakfast. Then, we went outside to play with the kids. We decided to go on a walk, and that ended up being about 4 1/2 miles long! The weather was so nice, and the walk was very fun. Madelyn slept most of it, and Caleb had a nap, too. We walked in the woods, and there was a dirt road. We also walked along the river, and it was so relaxing (even though it was exercise). Lena was with us, and she got a great walk in too. She was just as pooped out as we were when we got home. We ate supper/lunch when we got back, then went to a movie that night. We went to see, "Horton hears a Who" with Terry's nephews, his mom, our kids, and our sister-in-law. It was a great movie! I think the animation was great! The only thing I really didn't care for was they used the name boob in reference to one of the Who's a couple of times...like to call him a name. Other than that, I think it was a fantastic movie! Nathaniel said it was one that we have to own. :) After we got home, it was about 9:15 PM, and Terry gave Caleb a bath. Terry's mom watched the kids, and we went to get Terry's sister (about 35 minutes away). We picked her up and met her boyfriend. We were going to go out for coffee, but it was too late, and we were tired.
Sunday, we got up early, and got ready. Terry and I went out for breakfast, then met everyone at church. We were pretty tired, and Terry even nodded off to sleep a few times in church. I really think the weather had something to do with it, though. We were blasted with cold MN chill and more snow on Sunday. Actually it snowed really hard and really big flakes! After church, we had lunch. Then, the kids looked high and low for plastic eggs. We celebrated our Easter late because we were home bound over Easter with sick kids. We didn't get to color eggs over the weekend, because we ran out of time. So, we will probably color eggs tonight.
On the drive home, it was slick in a few spots, and the visibility was bad for the first 45 minutes-hour. We also had our van door jammed somewhat open. It was a bit freaky, and it was also a little loud. We gave Terry's sister a ride home, then we decided to drive around Mille Lacs Lake. The drive was so pretty and scenic (yes, even with the snowy yuck). That night, we just did some laundry and relaxed. Terry did find the culprit to the door being jammed, a McDonald's toy was stuck in the side. So, all is good now. :)
Monday, we didn't make it to babysitting, because Nathaniel stayed home from school with a sore throat and ear pain. I had a terrible headache, too. (Which is why I didn't put anything on my blog). I did make it to my stamp club last night, and that was fun. I got to see my friend Naomi, too, because she came for a visit. Late last night, at about midnight, Caleb woke up with a terrible cough. We gave him cough meds and got him back to bed. This morning he woke up with a fever, cough, sneezing and a runny nose. So, yippee, we get to deal with more sickness. I wish I could buy an immunity bubble for my kiddos. Know where I could get one? I am sure he got it at church Sunday, or something that his cousins had. I know 2 of the nephews had runny noses, and their little one always has a terrible cough. I am not sure why, but he seems sick a lot. Poor little guy.
So, being Tuesday, we are home bound once again. I feel frustrated today, because my kids are sick again, and I can't help my friend out with babysitting Claudia! Grrr....

Weekend

This weekend we will be going to my Mother-in-Law's and Terry's Grandma's to celebrate a (belated) Easter. We weren't able to make it up there for Easter because of Madelyn and Caleb being sick. I am really looking forward to spending time with family and just getting away. It will be fun to color eggs with the kids, and letting play with their cousins and Grandmas. I probably won't be online after 5 PM Friday-Sunday night. I may sneak on here to write a post or two, since I have a bit of an addiction...but we will see. I may just want to be on time out.

Have a great weekend everyone!

More hair to do...

I have been really getting into cutting people's hair, and coloring lately. Ever since the ninth grade (a long time ago) I have wanted to be a beautician. I started cutting Barbie's hair when I was in elementary school. My mom was not happy with that decision. She took my dolls away (of the ones that I cut their hair) and said I will not get them back. When I was in college, she had them out to show me. I asked if I could have them to show to my kids someday, and she really struggled to let me have them even them...that is really following through! Way to go MOM...but, I did get them back after much pleading.
So, I have been cutting Nathaniel's hair since he was a baby. I have to say, his first year or two of life he modeled some really funky styles...I have really matured in my hair cutting abilities I must say. When I met Terry (my husband) I cut my first adult Male's hair. He really liked it. He doesn't have a difficult cut...just buzzing, and then he likes the whole thing cut with scissors. So, it is tedious, but scissor cut is so much better looking. I also cut my first female hair when I met his sister for the first time. I cut off about 9 inches. She loved the cut, and I was glad. Just in the last year, I have cut 2 of my friend's hair, and they really liked the cuts, and other people commented on their hair cuts, too...so, that made me feel good. Then, last month, I did my first highlighting with foils. I did my friend Lisa's hair, and Jody's hair with foils. I think they turned out really cute, and fun. I also cut their hair. I gave Jody a whole new style, and she really liked it. Well, tonight, I did Lisa's mom's hair. I highlighted it, and touched up her new hair cut. She wasn't liking how the salon had cut it, so, I just cut it a little different.
I really appreciate my "guinea pigs" for trying to spread my wings with learning to be a beautician, so I say, "Thank you so much!" Terry and I are considering putting me through school, so we can earn some money out of it. We might as well get paid for something I love to do (besides blogging). We would like to have a salon out of our home. Don't worry friends, you can still get a discount...but free days will come to an end sometime. (*wink*) This gal has to help with the load of bills...especially with gas nearing $4.00/gallon! YIKES!
