An Old Fashioned Christmas

Last night, Terry and I went to our annual "Old Fashioned Christmas" at church. This is a fun event where people can host a table. With being a host, they can decorate it as they choose. Then, they invite people to sit at their table. The evening is filled with fun entertainment and catered food. It was a fun evening. This year, we sat at our friend's tables. My dear friends, Lisa and Jody, hosted their tables with their husbands. Another friend that sat at the table was Jeannie. Lisa and Jody made a "girls" table, and their hubby's hosted a "guys" table. It was fun and inventive. They did this last year, and it was such a hit, they did it again. Last year, Terry and I hosted a table. Terry is a big time train hobbyist, and we had a train running around our table. You can see pictures by clicking here.
This was the "guys" table. It was the hunting theme. The "gifts" (hand warmer and beef jerky)was wrapped in duct tape, and I thought that was pretty clever! The salt and pepper shakers was a fish head/tail.
The "girls" table was a pretty snowflake theme. There was a fun winter scene in a glass cake container for the center piece. The lights were candles and blinking snowflakes. I thought it was cute how Lisa put the napkins in a tied ball ornament. She also tied ribbon around the mugs to spruce them up...so creative!
I took pictures of some of the tables, but the one picture I missed taking was of Terry and I. I even said something to him last night, and we just didn't get the photo. Him and I were pretty tired that night, so I think that is why we missed it.

The entertainment was a barbershop men's quartet. They were pretty good. When I think of Barbershop, though...I think of acapella, and they had music. At one point in their performance, they had 2 of our elders and the pastor come up on stage. They sang part of a Christmas carol, and the guys had to sing the next line. I think they did great! Terry was very witty that night, because he had made a few other comical fill-ins to the songs! One that Terry filled in (just singing it to me) was...."All I want for Christmas is my...." to which Terry said, "A good night's sleep!" I gave an AMEN to that one! Unfortunately, Madelyn had a horrible night Saturday night. She was up from about midnight until 4:30 AM. She cried and hollered on and off every 10-15 minutes. She has been waking up a lot in the evenings and we aren't sure what is going on with her. We definitely would love a change with that.
Anyway, the evening was fun...fun to dress up, spend time with friends, have great laughter, eat some great food, and have some entertainment. Thank you Lisa and Jody!

"The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"

The little children in our church a.k.a. "The Bugs" sang in church for the Sunday morning service. The kids sang a Jingle song (and had bells ringing) and Away in a Manger. Caleb did NOT want to go up there. I went up with him and sat on the floor. He was practically sitting in my hand that I held on his back. He really doesn't like the attention on him in big crowds. My friend (Jody's) little guys were up there, and her son D.J. is a hoot. He loves entertaining and he is good at it. At the end of the Jingle Bell song, he went back and started playing the drums, and his little brother followed suit. After the teacher re-directed them both to the front of the group, D.J. got to be in front of the mic. Then, all the kids sang 'Away in the Manger'. After the song was done, D.J. piped up and asked, "Any Questions?" I thought it was funny, but really I thought it was a very appropriate thing to ask. "From the mouths of babes" as my aunt says.
I dressed Caleb and Maddie in their cute little outfits. Both of these adorable outfits were given to me. I have been blessed with clothes for the kids, and for that I am so thankful. Caleb's I got from a friend and she is my Stampin' UP demonstrator. Her son is just a year older than Caleb, and she has a daughter just a year older than Maddie. She is giving me all the clothes now, because she is done having kids. I appreciate it so much! Sure saves on cost. Maddie's outfit came from a friend at church. She has given Maddie some clothes, too...because she is done having kids. She found the outfit at a thrift store, and it is so adorable. I should have had Terry take the sweater off for the picture. I will try to get some more pictures posted of her in it, soon. ~ Thanks Christina and Sheila!

Miss Independant!

Madelyn is now on the mission of getting were she wants...and fast! She is crawling at 7 1/2 months old. She is so incredibly adorable! I love when babies start to crawl...walk...reach for you...etc. All those new milestones are fun, but usually require more work. She thinks it is just great that she is crawling!

Both little ones are sick today. It started yesterday with the runny noses. Caleb has a good cough going on. Last night was a rough night in our home. Maddie was up almost every hour just being miserable. She pretty much was attached to me all night (like a leech to a foot)...that is how I felt anyway. I guess you just need to do that once in awhile. Caleb was calling for me almost every hour from 2:30 on. I couldn't do both kiddos, though...so, my darling hubby was in there a lot, when finally he just went in there and slept with him at 5 am- ish.
I am really bummed that I missed church today. It was youth Sunday (where the youth lead it). I love these Sundays, because they do such a great job! My friend Lisa's little boy turned 1 yesterday. He is so adorable. I can't believe he is 1 already! Wow, time flies! He is having a party today, and I am going to miss it...and I am sad.
