Rainbow Brite is back (review and giveaway)

I am a gal from the 70-80's era, and I love that the toys that I grew up with an loved are making a come back into our children's lives. I never owned a Rainbow Brite doll, but my sister did. I loved Rainbow Brite, and I really loved her little sprite, Twinkle.
Rainbow Brite and her friends, Tickled Pink and Moonglow brought good cheer, fun personality and color into a world of imagination. Now, 2010, Rainbow Brite and her friends are coming back!
Coming back with a makeover, Rainbow will delight children with her imaginative adventures, with spreading positive messages of courage, kindness and hope.

Rainbow Brite has a fun FREE interactive website displaying the theme song, coloring pages, games, wallpapers, puzzles and more! I love that the website is free and very kid-friendly. All the clicking is directed by a glittery wand, and my daughter loves that!

I received a Rainbow Brite Adventure Pack CD to review from Mom Select. The CD was a great introduction to Rainbowland! The CD is packed with six puzzles, coloring pages, pictures to design and print, Rainbow's Theme Song, Rainbow Rescue game, and more! You will be introduced to Rainbow, Tickled Pink and Moonglow...along with their horses and sprites. You can read about each character in their Bio's. We enjoyed the CD, and I will be giving away a few CD's at the end of this post.

Another exciting thing coming soon, the newest Rainbow Brite fashion doll collection will be available in February 2010 at Toys R' Us and Target (please check website for availability http://www.rainbowbrite.com/). Watch out for Rainbow Brite, her two loyal friends Moonglow and Tickled Pink, and their companion horse friends: Starlite, Shimmer and Sunriser. Rock of Ages: Broadway Musical CD

I loved the '80's and still do! I was excited to review the new Rock of Ages CD from New Line Records. This CD is a compilation of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of five-time Tony Award nominated "ROCK OF AGES." For those of you not in the know, Rock of Ages is the new Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis. Set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80's. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.I totally loved the '80s and the music back then. The songs are sung by the cast. The CD has the storyline, the characters/singers lines (singing and talking) and some parts of the songs are revamped to fit the storyline of the musical. I loved the songs from the '80's (the original songs by the original artists) and it was a bit hard to get into the musical version. I think that the cast did a great job with the songs, but I am just used to what I know. I would like to see the musical, though, and see how the cast puts this together. Who knew you could take '80's rock & ballet music and turn it into a play? Thanks to One2One Network, I was able to review this new CD and share it with you!
Here is the song list:
Just Like Paradise / Nothin' But A Good Time/Sister Christian/We Built This City / Too Much Time On My Hands/I Wanna Rock/We're Not Gonna Take It/Heaven/More Than Words / To Be With You/Waiting For A Girl Like You/Wanted Dead Or Alive/I Want To Know What Love Is/Cum On Feel The Noize / We're Not Gonna Take It (Reprise)Harden My Heart / Shadows Of The Night/Here I Go Again/The Final Countdown/Any Way You Want It / I Wanna Rock (Reprise)High Enough/I Hate Myself For Loving You / Heat Of The Moment/Hit Me With Your Best Shot/Can't Fight This Feeling/Every Rose Has Its Thorn/Oh Sherrie/The Search Is Over/Don't Stop Believin'

Corneille~ new artist

“Music has been the place where I could go to hide and forget about the world. I couldn’t make sense of a majority of the things that happened to me, so I used music as a shield. But over time, music has become a vehicle to channel out everything that I’ve been keeping from myself for all these years. And the new album is definitely the most honest, real assessment of everything that’s happened in my life, because I’m not trying to hide as much.”Corneille
Corneille, is a major new artist on Motown Records. Corneille Nyungura was born in Fribourg, Germany, where his parents were students. At the age of six, his family returned to Rwanda, their country of origin. “When I went to Rwanda for the first time, there was a sense of going to the place where I belonged,” he says. “But because my parents were very much Westernized, I still felt like I didn’t fit in.”
With his Dad's encouragement over his singing, Corneille realized that his desire to make a career with his singing was possible! At age 16 he made his first recording. Sadly, his parents and family was massacred in the largest genocide due to the assassination of Rwanda’s President, Habyarimana . Corneille escaped the genocide in Rwanda, and he used music as a place where he could go and forget about the world- even if it was just for a little bit. His music is jazzy, and reminds me of something you may hear in a coffee shop or martini lounge. His music is band music, R&B pop, and soul singing. His music is relaxing, and good music to calm you down after a long day. Knowing his history, the songs come to life because the songs define his past and present for the world to know who he is. His music is bits and pieces of the story of his life.
Thanks to Music Moms I was able to review Corneille's new cd: The Birth of Cornelius.

Plain Tales new releases

PlainTales series, which offers classic stories on CDs that can be played on any player, any time (goodbye, long, boring trips this spring break!). The series is now expanding with the release of new collections, PlainTales First Tales and PlainTales Explorers, available on CD March 10, 2009.

The PlainTales First Tales collection includes:
“The Gingerbread Boy and Other First Tales” – Enthrall in the stories of the naughty Gingerbread Boy, the clever Billy Goats Gruff, the enchanted Frog Prince, the stalwart Little Red Hen and the courageous Bremen Town Musicians. Perfect for the littlest listener.
“Paul Bunyan and Other American Tall Tales” – Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and Davy Crockett are some of the roughest, toughest characters ever to blaze the frontier. Clever as the crack of a whip and strong as a wildcat, these tall-tale heroes each left a legacy of larger-than-life deeds that have captured the American imagination for over a century. Three rib-tickling tracks tell the whole story.
The PlainTales Explorers collection includes:
“Animal Tales: Raccoon, Bear and Coyote” – Finally on his own, a young raccoon named Lotor needs to finds a new home before a predator finds him. Osa the brown bear builds a perfect winter den – with less-than-perfect results. And to survive a bleak winter, Hazard the coyote must find food for his pack, even if it puts him in grave danger. These stories about fictional friends are rich with detail about real animal behaviors.
“Johnny Appleseed and Other American Legends” – What makes an American legend? Find out in these fascinating stories of national treasures, including Johnny Appleseed, whose apple trees bore the fruit that fed a nation of pioneers; Sacagawea, the Native American woman who bravely guided Lewis and Clark on their westward journey; and John Muir, a valiant protector of the West’s natural wonders and founder of the Sierra Club.
PlainTales, created by writer, entrepreneur and father Brian Keairns, was started with the mission of providing great audio stories for children and their parents, believing that hearing the world’s best stories read aloud is a great way for youngsters to develop language and thinking skills, all while being thoroughly entertained. Fables, fairy tales and original stories inspire, educate and encourage creative thinking, and the ones featured in the PlainTales series are chosen for their rich language, cultural significance and pure enjoyment, allowing families to share something special, together.
PlainTales storytelling CDs are recommended for ages 5-10 and are available for $14.95 each.
