I love that it is educational and fun at the same time. Kids don't even realize how much knowledge they are exposed to just by playing. I think it is awesome and my six year old niece might be just a big young to plunge right into it just yet. However I think it is something she could grow with and give her a great advantage as her reading level continues to progress.

I love that this game helps teach kids about the environment. The more the ideas of conservation can be reinforced through play and through example, the more likely that it will become second nature and they will grow up with the habit of being responsible for the world around them. The 34 biodiversity hotspots cover only 2.3 percent of the earth's surface, yet contain 75 percent of the plants most threatened mammals, birds, and amphibians. I learned that from the Xeko website, and I learned that the Xeko game helps funds efforts to conserve those hotspots, while teaching children (and maybe their parents) to be eco-heroes.

I like games that are educational, but this is more than just a game. This is great for families and I think adults will like it more than they admit. This is a keeper, I bet kids will stick with this and pass it on as a collector item.

I would love to win this for my grandson, the little explorer. He is fascinated by maps and wants to know where everything is located. I want to encourage his curiosity and help teach him about the environment. I think learning globally young is important. These lessons make us all think about our environment and how important it is to take care of.

I don't have kids, but I have lots of nieces and nephews to shop for over the holidays and share wonderful times with. So I'll be honest I'm trying to win some stuff. I think it's neat that they have a Club Xeko, and you can pick your alter-eco species. My son would be the three-toed sloth I'm sure, it's one of his favorite animals.

The Fossa (Crytoprocta ferox) pronounced "foo-sah", is one of the world's weirdest and Madagascar's most ferocious predators. Said to have a nose like a dog, teeth like a leopard and whiskers like an otter. The whole idea is fascinating to me. When I first heard about the cards I thought yeah just another gimick. I never thought anything but baseball cards were worth collecting. Xeko is different though. I like that it educates and entertains simultaneously. A very worthwhile investment. For the knowledge it gives and eco-friendly habits will last a life time. I learned that you can create your own Xeko Alter-eco, with your own alter-eco name and alter-eco species. You get mission updates with the member bulletin. I think this will greatly encourage a child's curiosity for learning.

Today I learned about the Brown-throated Three-toed Sloth. This tree dweller has three long claws that are great for grasping branches but make it almost impossible for it to walk on the ground. This sloth has extra bones in its neck that enable it to turn its head almost all the way around. I got this from card #20.

ReplyDeleteI'm a big proponent of educational toys, and that can get more difficult to "disguise" as kids get older. However, my kid is really into card games right now like Yu Gi Oh so I think he would buy into this game and then learn some things about the world around him while he played. What a bonus!
