Always: Book review and Giveaway!

Contest is over~ thanks to all who entered. Congratulations to the lucky winner: justicecw!
You will love your new book! Please send me your mailing address.

This very evening Terry was faced with the question, "Do you love me?" from Caleb. Caleb had taken a bite of Madelyn's finger in the bathtub because he was upset with her. Terry was giving them a bath, and when Caleb did this, he was immediately taken out. He knew that he upset his Dad~extremely. So, of coarse his security was feeling threatened...with that, he asked his dad. This question is asked by a lot of children, and if it isn't asked, it is thought of by most children~ if not all children.

The book Always is a great book to read to your young children. This book is about a little boy who asks the "do you love me when..." questions. The Mom reassures him that she loves him no matter what~ Always! Caleb and I love reading this book together. We comment on some of the things that the little boy has done. Caleb says, "Oh-oh, that isn't very nice." I let him know, that his mom still loves him. We also talk about how his dad and I love him no matter what. Great book!!

  2. I agree; this is part of growing up, testing this bond. And, always, "yes."

  3. Yes, I asked my mom this question often. She'd sigh, and say "Of course I do..." She was unconvincing, and I was always left wondering, "Well, if you love me so much, then how come you never say it to me first?"

  28. My kids have never asked me "Do you love me" but they do make comments about how we love one over the other (which is not true!). I remind them of all the things we do for them each and every day that proves how very much we love them.

I love books like this. I think all children should read these books about how much they are loved.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  30. When I was little and my mom would yell and send me to my room, I'd sit in the floor and cry "Nooooobody loooooves meeeee!" My mom ignored me because she thought I was just whining, but my dad has a softer heart and would come ask "What makes you say that?"

My daughter is too young to have done this or even asked about it, but I'd like to think that when she is sitting in her bedroom floor screaming that I will at least go up and holler "I love you" through the door. LOL.

  31. I did some asking when I was a kid; I was always relieved to hear the answer! I think my parents did a good job of explaining that they could be upset with me, but that didn't mean they didn't love me!

  33. What a gorgeous children's book! Books rule in our home. My husband has asked me this question more than anyone has asked me this question. I am sure I have asked him, also. It is those moments when insecurity takes over. We have two adorable sons and I really think that if they ever asked me, they had to be very, very young.
Maybe, I told them all of the time. I still do. Please enter me in your book drawing. I really appreciate it! Thanks, Cindi

  36. I definitely asked my mom, dont recall asking my dad. And her answer was yes or 'of course', although it was usually asked when I'd done something wrong, so she still looked stern. But she was reassuring, and when needed, always did a follow-up to let me know she loved me. I call her 'super mom'. laurachilton {at} hotmail {dot} com

  38. My 5 year old (Daughter) told me one time that she thought I didn't love her when I disciplined her. I hugged her and explained that if I didn't love her, I wouldn't care if she did things that could hurt her.

  39. My 21 year old son stills doesn't say he loves me when I say it to him and I always ask him that question. Makes me always wonder if I was a good mother to him.

  40. I've recently had to answer this question with my niece. She had did something, I can't remember now but I told her I'd always love her. While lying in bed we went through all the bad things she thought of and I told her I don't like those things but I would never stop loving her.

  41. My toddler isn't old enough to ask this yet, but I find myself reassuring him all the time anyway. Whenever he gets told no in a really stern voice, he'll start to cry and want to be cuddled. I always remind him that Mommy and Daddy love him and the reason we tell him no is so that we can keep him safe so he can always be with us.

  45. My daughter often says, "I love you mommy." That's her way of asking, because she expects me to answer (and I always do), "I love you, too. Mommy loves you very much."

  47. My oldest son had a hard time when his father and I separated. He asked me that one day because he was thinking that if his father and I weren't together anymore then I might not love him. Of course I answered yes and it brought tears to my eyes. I think it's hard for children to go through a divorce because somehow they think they might be the cause which certainly wasn't the case, but he didn't quite understand that at the time.

  59. When my boys were going through the very tough teenage years I would always tell them that I love them with all of my heart but I didn't always love some of the decisions they made (this was when they had done something serious).

Now that I have grandchildren I tell them the same thing my parents told my kids "I love you to the moon and back". To hear them say that phrase back to me always makes me a little misty eyed.
